We are thrilled to extend our congratulations to David Mann, the General Manager of UKFS (part of the Floorstore group), for his selection as the Shooting Guard for the Men’s 50+ GB Maxibasketball England National Team. This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to David’s outstanding abilities and unwavering commitment to the sport.
Team GB at the Maxibasketball World Championships
Great Britain will be participating in this event for only the second time. The previous appearance was in 2019 in Espoo, Finland, where the GB Maxis Women’s 50+ team secured the nation’s inaugural World Championship medal. The 16th World Maxibasketball Championships takes place in Mar del Plata, Argentina from August 26 to September 3, 2023.
This year’s GB Men’s 50+ squad will consist of former international and national league players. Former Wales international Keith Kelly will be the team’s captain, and Londoner Keith Pringle will be taking on the role of Vice-Captain.
David, who previously played for APN – Durban South Africa, currently playing for Preston Basketball Club, underwent a series of rigorous training and selection sessions spanning from August 2022 to January 2023 to secure his position as Shooting Guard.
David commented: “GB Maxibasketball is a great way to still be able to represent your country and play at a high level as you get older. A lot of hard work and training has gone into our preparation for Argentina”.
